Fiber Optic Cable: Other manufacturers supply the type they make, Fiberstars supplies the type you need.

Description Fiberstars coextrudes pure optical fibers with flexible PVC tubing. Only light is transmitted through the fibers—no heat, ultraviolet radiation or electricity.

Color can be transmitted into the fiber through a dichroic color wheel in the illuminator. The fiber optic cable is flexible and retains its flexibility over time. The PVC tubing is treated with fungicides and U.V. inhibitors for weather resistance.

Multiple ends of fiber optic cable can be connected to an illuminator depending on the number of fibers per tubing or diameter of the large core fiber cable.

There are two kinds of fiber optic cable, multi-strand and large core fiber. Both are able to accomplish two types of application: Side-emitting and End-emitting.

“Fiberstars” fiber optic cables are used in conjunction with “Fiberstars” U.L.. listed illuminator. Actual light output levels vary with the type of illuminator, the length and diameter of fiber optic cable.

Side-emitting Illumination for linear highlights is created with BRITEPAK or BRITECORE fiber optic cable. BRITEPAK fiber optic cable utilizes the process of twisting and cabling fibers to ensure the most uniform, brightest side-emitting illumination. BRITECORE is patented large core fiber with bright, even illumination along its side.

End-emitting Multi-strand FSPT fiber optic cables have an opaque jacket, with light emitting from the ends of the fibers. All end-emitting fiber cables may be used with “Fibrescent” fixtures for downlighting, case lighting and for creating decorative patterns of light.

In end-lit applications, like the steplight installation on the left, the cable carries the light to the fixtures. In side-lit applications, such as the stairway rail on the right, the fiber optic cable is the light fixture. In both cases the fiber carries light instead of electricity.
